Come and create in this fun, relaxing and rejuvenating workshop, -using non-traditional and innovative approaches, experimentation and "art games" as well as some traditional drawing, rendering and painting techniques. Masla will share with you in this exploration of materials and techniques, as well as his joy and excitement of various approaches to drawing and painting from objects, nature, eidetic images and the beautiful local of the Boca and surrounding region. There will be some time spent in the studio, but a majority of time will be working out doors, plein-air, as Masla gives you insight into the art of seeing, teaching you to edit the non essential and simplify shapes, to lay foundations quickly, accurately, and confidently. We will go forward to discern where and how to emphasize focal points and details and then how to apply paint in a logical progression, allowing you to understand what you did and why. This workshop will focus on developing the techniques and ability to paint quickly and accurately, developing a spontaneous yet controlled approach, which can be useful in many situations. We will produce numerous small studies and there will be demonstrations in various mediums for the group as well as discussion and plenty of individual attention. Participants should realize that we are not looking to produce masterpieces here, but learning how to take notes, the effects of light on form, field studies of color, value, texture, composition, mood, energy, etc. Through the observation of forms, -highlights, shadows and hues, we will use line, value, shape and color to create the illusion of 3 dimensions on the 2 dimensional surface. We will explore value and color relationships as well as shapes, edges and the elements of design in the creation of a composition. The group will also discuss how the composition, and its various elements, effects the gestalt of the work of art and how the application of the various media relates to the creation of mood and atmosphere. Masla will give some group demonstrations / instruction on process but will also work with individuals to help them uncover their unique and exciting signature or “style”. Combining techniques (the craft of drawing and painting) with emotional response and visual concept we will give rise to unique individual expression. All levels of artists are encouraged to join in this extraordinary workshop vacation. Suitable for those who haven’t drawn since they were children, seasoned artists and professionals who wish to infuse their work with new energy and stimulation, -and everyone in between. ![]() Los Arcos from the coastal highway, watercolor on paper, Robert Masla About Maslas' philosophy on art and teaching: "The goal is for me to act as much (as a participant) as a facilitator and guide in the creative process, not for people to draw or paint as I do. For me the art process is a spiritual journey. I experience individuals as sparks of creative energy and awareness, part of the Whole of the ongoing Creation. As children we all naturally participate with awe, and celebration in the creation - moment to moment. Remember your delight the first time you perceived dust particles in a beam of light or watched a “river of water” from a spilled cup, turn into a “waterfall” as it cascaded over the table top to form a “lake” on the carpet below only to “disappear” as it was absorbed moments latter It was magical. It still is magical! It is our acceptance of routine and day-to-day experience as “ordinary” that takes the Passion out of life. More often it is our perceptions and beliefs of the constructs of “reality” that shape our experience, rather than “pure experience”. Many things have occurred to us since the time of innocence, when we were “one with creation” and celebrated with awe in the unfolding of our experience as part of the creative process. Since that time a lot of experiences (often voices of anger or criticism, judgments, mental constructs and belief systems the many voices of the “inner critique”) have created space, an illusion of separateness. Art, and particularly the drawing process, affords us with an amazing opportunity to re-experience our original and true nature as pure creative awareness. Join us in drowning out the voices of the inner critique by diving into the waters of passionate creative expression. I am blessed to act as a catalyst and witness for the revelation of your own "signature" or "style", the manifestation of your unique intuitive creative self. You will leave this workshop with improved technical skills, renewed confidence and inspiration to continue painting and drawing on your own, using art as a process to awaken and enhance self discovery - and have fun doing it!" Suitable for those who haven’t drawn since they were children, seasoned artists and professional who wish to infuse their work with new energy and stimulation, -and everyone in between. Like the other workshops in the "Casa environment", this experience will lead us to developing camaraderie among new friends and certainly stir our concepts and conversation around making art and the creative process. Do you want to draw? Seeking a fresh perspective? Wishing to renew your passion for life - Come create and celebrate - Draw Your Heart Out! ![]() "Standing on Fossils, oil and alkyd on canvas, 24x36 inches, Robert Masla To see more of Bobs work and to learn more about him visit the link below www.maslafineart.com Art Workshops/Vacation-Retreats to find out more contact: Monica and Bob at (413) 625-8382 www.maslafineart.com email us : bob@maslafineart.com or contact Karla and Steven at Boca Divers 011 52 322 228 0713 www.bocadivers.com |
