"Playing Along - Parents, Kids
and the Creative Connection"
- Celebrate the holidays in a special fabulous and fun
creativity workshop with your kids -
(Adults with kids ages 9- 14yrs)

 
Come for a week to explore your heart and soul through creative play.
Enter into a special and sacred intimacy with your child through sharing in
creative expression and intuitive play.
This unique workshop is designed to give you and your child or
grand child (-ren) the opportunity to spend timeless moments creating art work and
priceless memories together in the uncommon atmosphere of Casa de los Artistas.
Release your inner critique to the winds and dive into the spontaneous waters
of expression. Nourish your own inner child as you encourage your children to
do the same. Teaching by example, this workshop will help to reawaken the inner
voice, allowing creativity to emerge and freeing us from the anxieties
around the idea of making art and staring at the blank canvas.
Young children are very naturally in the place of spontaneous creativity. At around
age 7 this spontanaiety can often become clouded by the external voices that begin
to become internalized, later to become the "inner critique". In this workshop we
will let the children take the lead, empowering them to trust themselves (and us
in turn). We can break thru6ugh the barriers of communication by entering
together into the silence of shared creativity and play

This workshop will emphasize working in both group and individual settings,
both with your child (or children) and on your own.
Creating a series of drawings, paintings/collage. Different exercises will be
conducted to heighten awareness of your own work patterns as well as
understand new ways to approach the creative process.
We will also develop the concept of using an "art buddy".
Donna contends that the biggest obstacle to free-flowing creativity is
the set of negative voices that emerge when faced with a blank sheet of paper.
In this workshop we will keep so engaged in the creative process,
that fears are quieted and fall to the background.

Donna and Bob will lead us on a creative journey that is "fast, furious,
fabulous and fun".Estabrooks' expertise is in her ability to find unique,
non-threatening ways to pry open the lid on the creative spirit within.
Maslas’ unique gift is his way of communicating complex terms and techniques in
a  non-intimidating, simple manner that encourages individuality and the
empowerment of the participant.  Together, Bob and Donna will co-create an
atmosphere where everyone will want to “play along” in the creative adventure,


The mornings after breakfast will find us all engaged in the studio with the various
"art projects", after lunch and siesta time, for those who wish to participate,
there will be organized games on the beach, hikes and other
interactive excursions as well as free time in the
studio for those that wish to take advantage of it.

We would also like to organize a trip to "swim with the dolphins" for those
who are interested (an additional fee of $135. per person, -
parent and or child, chidren under 12 must be with a parent)-
-if you are interested in this, please let us know way in advance, as
reservations are required and space is limited

On our explorations outdoors, we will collect "objects" that will be used back in
the studio to infuse our work with personal significance. Using exercises and
"art games" that engage spontaneity from the deep well of experience, as well as
a dreamlike place, images, words and ideas, flow from participants, who will
leave the Casa having created artworks that express their inner intuitive self.
We will also do excersizes that explore and foster relationships
Like the other workshops in the "Casa environment", this experience will also lead
us to developing camaraderie among new friends and certainly stir our concepts and conversation around making art and the creative process.

At this workshop all of us are beginner and experienced artists,
and everyone, regardless of their inner voices, are encouraged to participate.

 Your all-inclusive Art Workshop week Includes:
•Round trip ground transportation from P.V. airport and Casa de los Artistas
•7 nights accommodation (single or double occupancy)
• 7 Breakfasts • 6 Lunches • 6 Dinners at ocean side restaurant
•6 Days of art workshops - each day from 9am to noon in the studio
and 3pm to 6 for games, excursions or open studio, as well as some evenings -
Noon to 3pm is for siesta or other activities of your choosing -
20 + hours of art workshop time
•All art materials
•2 picnic day trip excursions - hiking or boating to destinations for snorkeling,
swimming, waterfalls, art making and exploration,
trip to mountain town of El Tuito for sketching and
plein air painting and lunch at Altamira Hacienda Restaurant
(possible horseback riding, additional fee, reservations in advance)
•1 afternoon and evening excursion to Puerto Vallarta for Gallery Walk Tour,
shopping and city life.
