A couple of years ago I joined www.Thumbtack.com – this is an internet marketplace for local services, launched in December 2009. Thumbtack allows service providers and consumers to find each other and negotiate jobs online. As with most fine art and internet markets it is simply a tool for finding connections and increasing visibility. Service providers pay a fee for each inquiry they respond to. There are many inquiries that are persons either just “surfing” and curious as well as those looking for a “good deal”. Obviously I have to be very discriminating as to what I respond too.
